Explorers SCUBA diving – Thurs 22nd Oct 2009

A group of Explorer Scouts from Worcester enjoyed an evening trying out SCUBA diving with the Worcester Divers at Sansome Walk swimming pool.

After an initial safety talk and run through the underwater signals the Explorer Scouts split into two groups, the first group had a go at snorkelling in the small pool and the second group put on air tanks and masks in the main pool. With one instructor to two Explorers they were shown how to set the buoyancy so they would sink and then proceeded to swim up and down the pool underwater. Some of the Explorers then proceeded to dive to the bottom of the diving pit (5m) and do underwater somersaults. After a good practise the groups swapped over and tried out the other activity.
